Convenience

A built-in microwave oven combo can save space on your kitchen counters and give a stylish design to your space. It can be used to cook leftovers, frozen food items, and packaged food items. It also eliminates the requirement for an additional countertop appliance or a bulky stand-alone wall oven. If you're looking to improve your home without the need for major remodeling the combination microwave oven is a great choice.

There are microwave ovens in a variety of styles to match your kitchen decor. Some come with a swing-out right-to-left door, while others feature a drop-down style that opens the same way as an oven that is traditional. You can also find a microwave oven combo with a drawer style that opens like a cabinet. Microwave drawers can be easily reached and are ideal for small space.

Combination microwaves also come with various features to aid in meal preparation and more efficient. Some models feature a sensor steam mode that adjusts the temperature and duration of your food in order to ensure perfect steamed fish and vegetables. Other features include a broil feature that allows you to quickly melt cheese or cook your favorite food, as well as Crispwave(tm) technology that allows you to grill food items, bake and crisp them.

When choosing  straight from the source , make sure to think about how often you'll be using each function. If you will be using the oven more frequently than the micro, you may prefer a double wall-oven. A combo oven has a smaller capacity than an oven that is a standalone unit.

Once you've selected the best microwave and oven combination for your requirements, you need to think about how you will install it. Over-the-range models are positioned over the stovetop or cooktop and connect to the power outlet. Built-in microwaves are inserted on walls or cabinets in your kitchen. Some models come with trim kits that let you effortlessly blend your new microwave with your existing kitchen cabinets.

Energy Efficiency

Built-in microwave ovens are a great option for those who have smaller kitchens in their house or apartment. They can free up the space which would otherwise be taken by separate appliances, and can also reduce energy consumption. They typically offer the most efficient cooking method than traditional wall ovens, because they use less energy. They can also be used to cook both hot and cold dishes, which reduces the requirement for additional appliances such as toasters or warming plates.

When evaluating possible amendments to energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses, including assessment of technology and market, screening analysis, engineering analysis, and national impacts analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR, DOE will utilize its existing engineering analysis on microwave ovens to determine what degree of efficiency improvements are feasible for this product type.

DOE will evaluate the design of a microwave with a set energy performance objectives in the engineering analysis. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of the NIA, DOE will evaluate the impacts on consumers for each product category, including lifecycle cost savings and simple payback time ("PBP"). DOE will employ the Government Regulatory Impact Model, with an adaptation for microwavable ovens, to calculate the industry net present value (NPV).

DOE will also examine the impacts on manufacturers, and will use a modified industry cash flow model adapted to this product type in order to estimate manufacturing NPV. DOE will also look at the effects of these proposals on small businesses as well as other manufacturing subgroups to identify those that may be disproportionately affected.

Additionally, DOE will consider whether the testing procedures for microwave ovens need to be revised to include active mode energy use as well as an active mode energy use measurement. Currently, tests only provide standby mode power usage.

Design

Microwaves create heat by causing water molecules vibrate in food. Wall ovens rely upon the circulation of hot air, while microwaves depend on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall ovens combine two distinct appliances into a single unit that helps save kitchen space and gives a sleek, modern aesthetic. It is important to think about your budget and needs before purchasing a combination wall oven. Several of the combination wall ovens we have rated have issues with performance or design.
